The Trans-Oil Group of Companies was founded in 1997 with the assistance of an American company, Trans-Oil Ltd., based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The president and founder of Trans-Oil Ltd., James E. Kelley, had an interest in developing a grain trading enterprise with former Soviet republics. The win of a tender, organized by the Moldovan government, and the acquisition of the Căușeni elevator launched the business that has now grown and expanded substantially.
Vaja Jhashi became president in 2004. With the strategic goal of optimizing all financial and commercial activities, he was responsible for consolidating all company assets in Visions Holding, and relocated the company’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition, SA Trans Oil International was founded to facilitate the rapid growth of trading activities and to capture a multitude of possibilities. Trans-Oil International now enjoys a key status not only in Moldova, but also in Russia and Kazakhstan, and has excellent working relationships with major Swiss banks and leading multinational trading companies, including Glencore, Cargill, and Bunge. |
